WiFIX – Unlocking gene therapy’s potential through a novel wireless radiofrequency-based electroporation technology
WiFIX project aims to overcome the current delivery challenges holding back widespread adoption of nucleic acid therapeutics. It brings together in-depth complementary expertise: HHC Medical’s electroporation technology, Caszyme’s CRISPR toolkit, and AlveoliX’s organ-on-chip testbed – and showcases Europe’s innovation in the rapidly growing area of nucleic acid therapeutics.
- Nexopore is a wireless radiofrequency-based electroporation delivery technology for nucleic acid therapies (NATs)
- It could improve access to these transformative treatments for the 300 million people living with genetic disorders
- The benchtop system uses wireless electroporation (WEP) to induce pores in cells, enabling local uptake of therapeutic molecules
Project start: April 1st, 2026
Project duration: 24 months
The WiFIX project is co-funded by the European Union (Eurostars project No. 9970) under the agreement with the Research Council of Lithuania (LMT).
Eurostars is an international funding programme for collaborative research and development (R&D) projects led by innovative small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). As the world’s largest SME R&D funding programme, Eurostars supports the creation of innovative products, processes, and services for commercialisation.
